Production Dates & Locations:

August 28-30 in Columbia, SC.

Two rehearsals either in person in Columbia or virtual prior to shoot dates, subject to actors’ availability. 

Compensation:
Pays $100-$150/day with meals provided.

Logline: The star of her college theater department, Buggy is not about to let a surprise pregnancy threaten her dreams of being on Broadway. In the span of a day, she must find a ride to her abortion, endure the inane positivity of her understudy, and evade protestors...all before call time.

Character Descriptions

ROLES:

Buggy, (F, open ethnicity, 22). College Senior. Buggy is really going places—as soon as she finds her car keys. With a singular high-beam focus on her craft and little patience for the minute details of life, she’s the best actor in her undergraduate theater department and she knows it. She also knows what’s next: New York City. Must be a comfortable singer. LEAD

Mallory, (F, open ethnicity, 19). College Sophomore. Mallory is a genuinely nice person saddled with a mediocre high school boyfriend she will either marry or entirely dispense with sometime in the next three years. Meanwhile she’s an eager theater major with an undented capacity for awe and an impressive sense of justice. Must be a comfortable singer. SUPPORTING

Ryan, (M, Caucasian or Multi-Racial, 22) College Senior. Ryan is…fine. He knows a lot about plays and movies and he’s tall and this makes up the bulk of his personality. While this college senior does not have a firm grasp on the consequences of his actions, he would be game to, like, help you move a couch or get your internet hooked up to your tv or even to drive you to your abortion, as long as he didn’t drink too much the night before. Christian Teen, (F, open ethnicity, 18). High School Senior. The teen is extremely happy to meet you, hear your story, hold your hand, and remind you that Jesus loves you despite your inherently sinful nature. A current student at Buggy’s Christian high school, she’s open to new experiences, excited about life, and entirely sheltered. There is not an ounce of ill-will in her body and her convictions are so firm as to be terrifying. SUPPORTING

Kyla, (F, open ethnicity, 22). College Senior. Kyla is a 40-year old living in a college senior’s body. She has a strong moral compass and a deep sense of loyalty to her friends. She is a stage manager in every aspect of her life. Type A and proud of it. SUPPORTING
